Helical Piles

Helical Piles are manufactured foundation elements that are comprised of a central shaft and one or more helical bearing plates located on the shaft with it's axis positioned parallel to the shafts length.  A helical pile is installed by rotating its shaft into ground by applying torque.  Helical plates are spaced typically 3 times its diameter.  When the lead helix (lower helix) penetrates the earth, it advances when friction develops along the surface of the helical plate and soil interface.  Helical piles are typically used for tie backs, retrofit underpinning, and new construction piles.
